I used to feel the same!

Hi, I’m Jackie Roby, one of the UK’s leading forest school trainers and outdoor learning experts.

I knew that teaching outdoors was the way I had to go when I was repeatedly told off for looking out of the window during my primary school teacher training. I found classroom routines (and classrooms!) stifling and I hated seeing the exuberance and sparkle of the children disappear once they came indoors. I’d worked with excluded children for years beforehand and knew that there had to be a better way than the test-driven system that let so many children down.

I loved my forest school training. I felt very much at home out in the woods and my assessor commented that I was in my element. He was right! However, in the less-wild world, the banks had just crashed, no one was hiring and funding had totally disappeared. I realised that no one was going to create my dream job for me, so I was going to have to do it myself.

So I took the plunge!

Now, after more than a decade of running my own company, I’ve created a course to help you get your wild business up and running, sharing my passion and experience with you, all at your own pace and in your own time.

 I’m always asked by my forest school students how to be self-employed, what are the steps you need to take… how do you do it? I found that a quick chat was never enough to fit in everything I knew and wanted to share.

From the mistakes I’ve made that have taught me big lessons, or the technology tips that have saved me time, to the innovative ways I’ve learned to think about business and the legal requirements I’ve stumbled across along the way, I knew that I had to create this course; a business blueprint that tells you everything I wish I’d know a decade ago!
