Meet My Team

Jackie Roby: Founder, Director & Trainer

Hi, I’m Jackie, Start your forest school training online with me, Jackie Roby, one of the UK’s leading forest school trainers and outdoor learning experts.

I first heard about forest school when I was training as a primary school teacher, more than a decade ago. So I trained as a forest school leader, started my own forest school and I’ve never looked back. I spent three years working for many of Bristol's green institutions including the Avon Gorge & Downs Wildlife Project, Bristol Zoo and Wild Place. I began training others through the Forest of Avon Trust, whilst also being a founder of The Hawthorn Project, a weekly outdoor project for women in recovery. I've also found time to complete a PGDip in Education and to train as a Montessori practitioner.

In forest school I found my element, the thing that spoke to my soul and gave me the freedom to teach how I wanted and to create a job I love.

When I'm not forest schooling, I can be found in the Wye Valley, generally getting muddy and enjoying the countryside with my family and our dog, Inka.

I have a small team of wonderful people who work alongside me. They all have day jobs but they are valuable members of the Go Wild Family and I couldn’t do this without them.

Charly: Assessor, Assistant Trainer & Mentor

Charly assists on the forest school workshops, as well as supervising the portfolio marking team. She also runs the (almost) monthly Full Moon Meet-ups online. She runs her own forest school and has worked with a variety of wildlife conservation charities including Avon Wildlife Trust, Learning through Landscapes and the RSPB.

A Devon girl at heart, when she isn't exploring the forest, Charly can be found running along the coast path or down on the beach catching some waves and rays.

Jon Cree: Internal Verifier

Jon is an important part of the assessment team, making sure everything is done properly. Jon was the founding chair of the FSA and is a forest school legend. Jon has been training people in outdoor and nature based learning for at least 35 years and is an Earth Education trainer.

Jon loves is canoeing and has paddled up to Go Wild HQ on more than one occasion! He’s a dab hand at green woodworking and can make a tasty sourdough on the campfire.

Kim & Co.:

Spoon Carving Tutor (Kim) and General Helper (Small Ginger One)

Kim loves being outdoors and is very good at making things. He regularly teaches spoon carving on the level 3 forest school training courses.

The Small Ginger One is great at helping during the level 3 forest school training, as well as getting up to mischief.

Inka: Forest School Dog

Inka is a spring-loaded, high-speed bundle of mischief who likes nothing more than a day in the woods at forest school. Whether it's stealing sticks that are meant for den building, running around in a game of coo-ee, helping herself to your tea or munching charcoal from the fire, Inka is convinced that today is the 'best day ever' and she's very excited that you've chosen to join her.
