Birdsong of the woodlands and riverbank

  • go wild education np16 7nq (map)

If you’re guaranteed to see one kind of wildlife in the UK, it’s birds. And you nearly always hear them before you see them. Join me at Go Wild HQ for a day learning all about birds and the songs that they sing with bird expert Ed Drewitt. It’s one of my favourite things to teach and Ed really does know his stuff!

We’ll start the morning with a cuppa by the fire at Go Wild HQ while Ed introduces us to the different birdsong that we are likely to hear. Then it’s outside for a stroll along the riverbank to put our newfound knowledge to the test.

After a light lunch we’ll head off on and afternoon walk along the riverbank and through the woodland between Brockweir and Tintern. The walk is relatively flat and we will be stopping regularly to listen for birds. The whole walk is roughly 3.5 miles so a reasonable level a fitness and good shoes are required.

May is a lovely time of year in the Wye Valley, Spring is in full swing and local birds are nesting and summer migrants, such as warblers, are in full song.

This course is perfect at beginners and those who want to brush up their skills.
